The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) at the University of Tennessee is an exciting and challenging leadership development and Air Force or Space Force commissioning program that exists within and complements the overall academic experience.
Cadets are students first, pursuing their education, refining their talents and skills academically, and also committed to the Air Force core values (Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do), the AFROTC honor code, and the pursuit of an Air or Space Force commission.
Air Force ROTC provides a head start right out of college with a job as an officer in the U.S. Air Force or Space Force. Unlike most of your fellow college students, you’ll already know your career path before graduation and will be assigned to a managerial position starting on day one. Whether you continue in the Air Force or Space Force after your commitment is fulfilled or decide to join the private sector, you’ll be well prepared with valuable life and leadership skills.
The University of Tennessee’s AFROTC cadets have a solid foundation and sense of pride in their heritage as students and as members of a long line of Volunteers who have gone before them and served their country with honor, dignity, and pride.
To prepare for a career as an Air Force or Space Force officer, cadets take courses that focus on the importance of effective leadership, application of leadership concepts and the role of a military leader in today’s society.
